Karina Bates
Artist Bio
I have been an active potter for about 15 years, but only recently took the plunge into working full-time in my tiny studio. I make modern functional tableware as well as reproduction historical ware for reenactors. My modern work is heavily influenced by historical shapes and decoration. I love all different kinds of surface decoration treatments from painting, sgraffito and mishima, to wax resist, slip trailing and blended glazes. I also teach wheel throwing at the Kawartha Potters Guild. I am always happy to discuss pottery and am willing to take commissions.
