Karla Rivera

Artist Bio

With the help of clay, the employ of shapes, textures and composition, I try to create a bridge between beliefs, thoughts and experiences. I like to explore, interpret and capture the different states of mind to which we are exposed in different stages of our life; Although sometimes we do not want to change, there are circumstances that call on us to do so. Most of my work is made by throwing, this creates the first of many more marks. I cut and alter the forms, accumulating more marks, and more until multiple firings have the final say. I really like the marks that the whole process leaves behind, I feel that they intimately describe the experience of making.
