Shawna Cooper has worked in multimedia and design for many years. In late 2019 she began working in clay making functional and non-functional objects while exploring the medium, colour and forms. The intention behind these pieces are to add joy and presence in their use/viewing. The use of pieces that are handmade and created as art, is meant to focus the user on the moment as ritual, drinking or eating becomes a more noticeable moment of presence. The pieces that are non functional explore negative spaces and colour and generally look at themes of containment and inner struggles within that as a reflection and response to lock downs and the pandemic period.
